Ageing Stream:
Focus: Primarily on providing care to elderly people, often those living in residential care or receiving home-based support.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with daily living tasks like personal care, mobility, and meal preparation.
- Providing emotional support and companionship.
- Supporting people with dementia, palliative care, and end-of-life care.
Workplaces: Primarily in aged care facilities, retirement homes, or in-home care settings.
Key Skills: Supporting elderly people in maintaining their independence and quality of life through tailored care plans.
Disability Stream:
Focus: Providing care and support to people with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with daily activities, social participation, and developing independence.
- Providing care in both community-based and residential environments.
- Supporting individuals with specific disabilities (e.g., autism, cerebral palsy).
Workplaces: Disability services, group homes, day programs, and in-home support.
Key Skills: Promoting independence, skill development, and community participation for people with disabilities.
